For over ten years, award winning designer Tracy Mowschenson has been creating interior spaces that stand the test of time. With an educational background in art history and extensive travel throughout the world, Tracy’s commitment to classical design and attention to scale, proportion, and detail are consistent throughout her work. She has a unique ability to deliver thoughtful design by using classical principles, with an innovative and modern twist that is often refreshingly unexpected. Tracy views each interior design project as an opportunity to harmonize with the architectural space, while representing the unique personalities of her clients.
Tracy’s passion for interior design began as a child, and it is one that spans family generations. As a daughter and niece of contractors and developers, she learned at an early age about the importance of quality design, client satisfaction, and attention to every detail, no matter how small. Never shying away from getting her hands dirty, Tracy grew up on construction sites, with her family home typically in one form of reconstruction or another. It was here that her passion with the world of interior design began, as she was continually inspired by the work of her family and their ability to transform ordinary homes into beautiful, livable spaces.
Even before graduating with a degree in interior design, Tracy’s extraordinary talent caught the eye of a top interior design firm, the prestigious ADD Inc in Boston, MA. Upon graduation, Tracy started her career as a designer for ADD, where she worked on a number of important projects, including Eaton Vance Headquarters, Intercontinental – Waterplace and the highly acclaimed 360 Newbury Street project, where she and the design team were nominated for a Pillar Award, won a Multi-Housing Design Excellence Award and won the International Interior Design Association Best Residential Design Project for 2007 award.
Soon thereafter, due to her love of residential and hospitality design work, Tracy moved to Parker-Torres Design Inc., where she was able to expand her portfolio. During this time, Tracy worked on many important design projects with local clients and national companies including Starwood, Hilton and Marriot Corp.
In 2011, Tracy started her own firm which designs residential and commercial spaces both locally and nationally. Given an earlier career as a licensed cosmetologist, Tracy has developed a special expertise for salon and spa design. Tracy understands the importance of creating a memorable and tranquil environment for customers while maximizing space and revenue opportunities for her clients, and delivering projects on time and on budget. Her salon design work has won national acclaim, including being selected as a 2014 finalist for the North American Hairstyling Awards Salon of the Year award and placing second nationally for 2014 Salon of the Year by Salon Today.
Tracy is a graduate of Mt. Ida College where she earned a B.S. in interior design. As a longtime member of IIDA and ASID, she is committed to mentoring design students and giving back to the profession, through academic involvement and pro-bono design work.
